Thumbs up HELP! Coolant in cylinders

Hi,

This is my first post. I hope somebody can help.

I just finished replacing my head gasket. When I turn over the engine it would start and eventually it jammed. I removed the spark plugs and turn it over again. What I saw was a coolant fountain. After I checked it the intake manifold and it was also full of coolant. Where can all this coolant be coming from? I used a new head gasket and a new intake manifold gasket and torqued all the nuts and bolts to factory spec.

Somebody please tell me I don't have to pull the head off again. Could it be the intake manifold gasket?

All suggestion will be appreciated

Ehh, had this happen on a different car.... It was the headgasket... I'm wondering if the gasket got pinched or bunched up somewhere when you put it on. Or if it somehow got torn or didn't seat correctly... That's about the only way I could think of coolant getting into the cylinders.

Just couldn't tell ya man, I'm not an expert on s2000's by any means. Hopefully someone else will chime in with an idea.

Keep trying...

(if this really is a problem and not a 4/1 thing, it's your head gasket).

If this isn't another april fools joke you could have very easily switched the two hoses that connect on the side of the intake manifold coming from the idle control valve - they look very similar - One is Vacumm and that one sits directly behind the throttle body and it is "L" shaped and brass looking and points straight down and the other is coolant and if you reversed them it WILL dump coolant directly into your intake mani! Both These hoses sit directly behind your throttle body!

DO NOT crank your engine anymore with the spark plugs in until you find out the cause or you could destroy your engine with a hydrolock - If you have coolant in your cylinders you need to get it out of there by whatever means you can - use a tube and suck it out if you have too - try cranking the engine w/o plugs and cover your painted surfaces because it could come out like a fountain then I would change your oil!

Do a search on Hydrolock for more information!!!!!!!!!!!

Ztec, you were right. The coolant and vacuum lines were switched. I'm lucky honda uses a metal head gasket on this motor

I would say you were lucky as well, I assume you did no damage but I would suggest at least a couple of oil changes in the very near future

Car runs fine. I put some gas line antifreeze in the cylinder and turned the engine over, without the spark plugs, to get the remaining coolant out and just changed the oil and the spark plugs. The engine never ran with the coolant in it, only turned over with the starter.
