Help with engine breaking rattle/vibration noise
Hi All,
Just recently purchased a 01 with 18,000 Miles on it and I must say, it is an awesome awesome car! Got the car inspected prior to the purchase and the mechanic said the car was like brand new. It has a K&N Cold Air Intake and a stock exhaust.
However, I noticed that there is a rattle or vibration noise when the car is slowing down (engine breaking) in gear with the clutch in. This rattle or vibration noise usually happens when the RPM range between 3,000 to 2,500 but it goes away after it drops below 2,500 and the engine, trannie, and the car is smooth again. It is very noticeable when it is in 2nd or 3rd gear. The car vibrates and jerks a little, it almost feels like stalling. Nevertheless, it doesn

It is not uncommon, but it is not normal. I think you should search out the information on the TSB-054 to see if that matches the symptoms you describe. The TSB-054 buzz is usually from 4k to 3k rpm, but yours could just be at a slightly different speed.
