Have you thrown any dtc's? The tct is a normal wear part and you are pretty much due for a replacement. I am going to assume with your mods that the car isn't driven lightly and you should be folloowing the "severe" maintenance schedule. Check your oil more often for the cars sake. Its very simple.

it sounds like loose valves to me.

i'd adjust the valves and see if that fixes it.

my stock exhaust sounds puffy at idle.. i hope thats normal... lol please tell me if its not.

I agree that puffing in the exhaust is a sign of exhaust valves failing to close properly. I've seen (heard) it in several cases of burnt valves, but bent valves would probably be the same.

Mechanical over-rev?

na no over rev. i shift at redline when i race, never an over rev, im ordering the TCT from HTG, and if that dont fix it, this friday the valves are getting adjusted! (well they are regaurdless) but hopefully one of those 2 fixes it!

ok what is the difference in the cars running from burnt valves to valves needing adj. When the car is cold it backfires everytime i shift, and it doesnt seem to be running right...

Sorry to say, but it's definitely a bad valve. It could either be a bent valve, cracked retainer, or a very maladjusted rocker tappet. Once the engine heats up, all the parts expand and the valve seats better, stopping the backfire. The puffing noise from your exhaust is the dead give away. The pulses should all be even. Pulling the valve cover, and conducting a leak-down will pinpoint the problem.

so adjusting the valves will not help the problem? i dont want to pay to have that done if its not the problem
