Cool. You may have more than one problem. The tct may be totally separate from the valve leak. Good luck to you.

To tell you the truth you should look into the valve adjust first. I though it was my TCT at first then took it to my tuner and he readjusted the valves and the problem went away instantly. The ticking is still their like a deisel truck, but that is normal since my injectors are 880cc.
that seemed to do the trick. Honda said i had 6 valves really really loose. Got them adjusted and it put the zippity back in my doo dah lol. Id say thats what it was!

Don't want you to get paranoid, but if your retainers are cracking then a valve adjustment will only accelerate their failure. True, you've never over-revved, which is the cause of cracked retainers... On the other hand, have you had the car since new? A previous owner's over-rev could easily lead to a failure months or years later. Also, seems strange that the noise would just appear one day -- could be a crack that suddenly got worse.

Anyway, better safe than sorry -- you should check them out. Here's a summary/DIY replacement thread with links to other threads showing what to look for (without pulling the entire valvetrain):

Your '01 is under warranty?!

Regardless, they won't cover cracked retainers, since it's evidence of overrev.

Glad to hear that seems to have fixed the problem...

Curious if my cost estimate was close even though it looks like you went to a stealership...what did they charge you?

yeah aftermarket warranty. Called them already and they cover it. Still an 80 dollar service fee to check it out. I took it to honda last week and they quote "didnt see anything wrong with it"
