So i just put a gear set in my diff(4.77). A day or two after i installed i dont recall hearing the noise at all. but about the 3rd day i started hearing a rotational thud type noise, only on decel with the clutch disengaged or in neutral( that might be cause of my loud exhaust). but since then it seems like its gotten worse and seems like its louder some times than others. Also seems to get louder the slower i get(not very noticeable slowing down from 50, but once to about 30-20 its very noticeable)

Did you install the gears in the diff yourself?

 

nope cause i dont have all the necessary tools. the instructor i had in tech school did it.

If your tech instructor hasn't done an s2k diff before, it is almost guaranteed he did not do it quite right. Honda's instructions for diff rebuilds are a little different from the usual way most domestic or import diffs are built (other than Mazda).

You might send a PM to S2KPUDDYDAD...he is the s2k diff building master.
