With aftermarkent thin wall headers you will hear ticking noise, it is the exhaust valves coming through the exhaust header. With the hood closed the sound is more prominent on the passenger side but you can hear it from all directions. When I was at the Dragon a friend stopped next to my S2000 asked if I had a header on my car as he could hear the ticking noise on that side of the vehicle while idling, I was running a Mugen header. The stock header is best at covering those sounds, thin walled aftermarket headers emit the sound.

That sounds more like an exhaust leak to me.

Hi guys,

Sorry for the late update. I've attached a clip of the noise. Sounds like a high pitched metal tick if that makes any sense. This was recorded after a good drive.

Hi all,

Video of the ticking after 15 mins of driving.

The noise is there the moment the car starts but its not always there. Most obvious when you`re stopped at the lights next to a car due to the sound rebounding from the car next to you or when I`m decelerating & letting the revs drop.

Ticking seems to increase with the revs as well.

I have done an engine compression test and it shows 240 in all 4 cylinders.

Any ideas? Timing chain?

Thanks! :c

Cannot get either vid to work.

For the record, my tensioner does not have stronger springs.
