A friend got one a couple weeks back. He was running 14.2s in the quarter mile. He's doing 13.4 at about 105. I'm not sure if you consider this good or not, but it didn't make me jump out of my seat. He's had no problems whatsoever and he's done the 1/4 mile more than 30 times without even a hose coming off (only the dipstick pops out). Tomorrow I'm test-driving his car. I'm mostly concerned on how it'll hold out in an open track event.

He only shaved 0.8 off his quarter mile? I was expecting more than that from the vortech.

I was thinking about a super charger and was convinced that a turbo would be much better for overall racing... I was expecting to cut my time down to about mid/low 12s on 8-10psi (depends on how effective water injection is at delaying detonation). My time currently is 13.9 with a 7000rpm dump and intake/exhaust mods.

Maybe I'm being unrealistic, but I certainly hope it's better than the Vortech!

say you want to SC your car, but yet you take it to track events as well, is there a way to like take the SC belt off to disable it or anything?

Yes you can BUT remember, you will then be sucking air through a non-spinning supercharger - not the most efficient way to get air. There really is no point to taking the belt off, or in reality, to slip it off the belts and tie it back out of the way because it's not easy to remove the belt completely. I you drive "normally" and keep the revs below about 4000 rpm, it doesn't really act any different than a NA car. (Well, maybe just a bit more power at 4000 rpm as this is where the boost begins to build to a significant and noticeable amount.) Your're either going to put it on or not put it on. Once on, you won't have any desire to disable it.
