It just happens.
Those roller bearings are sealed & greased for life.
1 in a million doesn't make it to the age it is supposed to.
Not much you could have done to prevent this - nothing at all to be exact
Well.. not drive the car

just hit 80k, but I've put on about 4k in the past 3 months, lots of driving.
Was there any unusual noises coming from that area prior to the bearing failure? I have about 60k on my car now and this is the first I've heard of this. Would hate to get stuck in the middle of nowhere if this happened.

Thanks for posting this up.

yeah for a couple weeks it sounded like the car was "humming"(best way to describe it)

right before it happen all I heard was grinding, if your really that worried about it I would inspect the pulley/bearing it takes 10mins max to remove. Just remove the belt and undo the pulley with a 14 or 15mm wrench I cant remember which.

woohoo.time for upgrade! get a widebody kitt.
Oh yeah, that's the wide body kit that incorporates the revised, stronger, new design idler pulley. The two are actually related and relevent to each other. Honest!

Hey, my radio volume knob just broke off. I guess it's time for new rims.

Damage looks worse then what it really is..... But you look really happy at the time they were hooking your car up!

Nothing really much to worry about.... just slap on a new one and your golden! Atleast they used a split deck tow truck so they don't have to 2x4 your wheels!
