Default High Beam Indicator

Hello all,

I have noticed that about 50% of the time my high beam indicator (the blue one on the dash) looks to be on when no lights are on. Its almost like it is dimly lit. Then when I go to turn on my head lights the indicator goes away. The odd thing is that it only happens about half of the time.

Anyone else have this problem? Very odd.

You have a later model S with DRL, correct? What you describe is normal operation, the "dim" high beam indicator is telling you that the high beams are on "dim", i.e. they are in Daytime Running mode.

You know what, I think this is it... but I feel like sometimes the indicator isn't on. Aren't the DRL's always on when the actual headlights aren't on?

I'm pretty sure the above post is correct. My 08 AP2 does the same. OP, next time you suspect the indicator isn't on, drive your car into a garage or some place dark and see if you can see it better.

This is exactly what it is guys, the indicator doesn't come on until the e-brake is pulled down. Thanks for helping me with this!
