Default High pitch squeel/whine 2.5-3k rpm

Hi Guys, my 2000 S2000 has a high pitched squeel/squeek/whine and always shows when on the throttle from 2500 rpm up to about 3000. I can't tell if it continues above that as the exhaust is pretty loud but anybody else had a noise like it between those revs and have an idea what it is? possibly a belt pulley or drive belt tensioner?

should also say it's only when in any gear and under load. Doesn't make the noise when in neutral and revving the car.

No FIPK (although i am considering one), but it does have an unknown metal intake pipe that goes down to the bottom front right of the bumper to an open cone.

Probably has to do with the intake. Most aftermarket ones will have a high pitch whistle around that rev range due to the change in airflow into the butterfly valve. My K&N FIPK does and others with other intakes say the same.

start car, open hood, operate the throttle plate by hand (gently rev the car), see where noise is coming from. You should be able to tell if it's coming from the intake or elsewhere.

i can't replicate the noise sitting still, will only do it under load. Doesn't matter what gear, but just not at idle.

It is more than likely the usual intake whistle that happens at about 3k rpm.

Like DeeKay said, put the car in neutral with the parking brake up, open the hood, pull on the throttle plate (that operates the butterfly valve from the gas pedal - should be easy to see on the right side of the throttle body) and see if you can replicate the whistle. If not, then try to grab a video of it while driving.
