I'm not sure if this is normal, but my car has a high pitched whine when I'm in low gears. I test drove a different S2000 before and it didn't whine in low gears.

Is this normal?

Funny. Mine (04) does the same thing, i was always wondering if that was norm.

I thought when it whines, your differential is going bad?

If one car makes a noise that another does not there is a problem.


Since none of us can hear the noise online finding the source is just about impossible.

I have an 07. Even when I warm the car up before driving, it still whines during low gears. I can't tell during high gears because of wind noise and engine noise.

Best way to describe it, is it sounds like an RC car, but softer and not as loud.

mine does it but really only noticable at freeway speeds, with the top up and radio off.. With the radio on or the top down you cant hear it..

i have the same exact symptoms, started right after a botched launch, also sounds as if something is dragging in lower rpms and vibration under hard acceleration, so i know its going to be something serious, haven't had to time to get it checked yet, please keep us posted
