High RPM Bog
Went for a ride today where I was able to run at 6000rpm or better for some time. After about 45 min going up to 7500 and back down (corners) to around 6000 rpm the engine had a severe bor (like no fuel) around 6500rpm. This happened twice toward the end of my drive. Has anyone else had this happen? Any ideas? Could this be caused by hot intake air form the engine compartment? Thanks for any input.
For whatever reason your ECU went into safe mode. Your oil pressure was too low so VTEC did not engage. Most likely your oil level is too low. Another possibility is you stopped to eat or take a p***. Your car cooled a bit and thus would not VTEC. Be advised that the 3 bar ruyle posted by many is not entirely accurate. Your car needs a few minutes more "heat" for the oil pressure to be sufficient to VTEC.
My vote, low oil or low temp.

Utahs2k, I did need to P***, but thats not when this happened. Just changed the oil and checked the level at the end of the run. The engine was fully warmed up. The simptons occured around 30 min into the twistes in the mountains. Per cdelena's suggestion, I think that it's the MAP sensor that is the problem.
Map is a good third choice if the first two requirements are met.....you know how to do the screwdriver tap right?
Tap the map a few times with the butt of a screwdriver, then tap once more for good measure.......

P.S. Wouldn't happen to be the Angeles Forest Highway would it? I held the record from La Canada to Newcombs Ranch for several years back in the early '90s
