Default Hood dampers,Tein,etc...

Can somebody, explain me ,how these f**king things work?
I tought,It was some kind of piston, moving in a cylinder, similar to the struts on a hatch back.
But I received mine this morning,(Teins),and nothing moves;everything seems to be fixed, how does it work???

I have a set on my hood they act like a trunk shock. Once installed the will compress when you close your hood and when you open the hood the will expand, its just that simple........

yeah, you wont be able to compress them with your hands!! you acutally need to put them on and the shaft will go into the cylinder easier with the weight of the hood!!

If they are new they are very stiff. But after you do the first closing of the hood with these shocks they are very smooth and easy to close.

Hmm.. so with these dampers, you are no longer able to do the "hood drop" to get it to latch, so you are forced to push down on the hood to latch it, right? Miss Cleo tells me that you have a crinkled hood in your future.

One it gets down you can still drop it to close.

When you first close the hood use 2 people and both hands to force it down evenly. It will make some cracking and popping noises. Or you can use your body weight and something soft to compress the piston before you install it to break it in.

Thank you very much to all of you Guys.
Installed my Teins dampers today,no drilling,~15 minutes job,and works like a charm;one finger operation, and yes you can still drop the hood close, juast as before.
One of the most convenient mod.to my "S'".
Was sceptic at first, because I could not move(compress)them by hand.
Thank you Guys.
Emil.
