Default How do I lower the steering column?

I need to replace a broken ignition due some thieves peeling it and wanted to see if removing these 4 bolts would allow me to lower the ignition to get to the screws for the ignition (2 screws w/ broken tips on top).

If not, can someone tell me how to lower the entire steering column?

Hey,

I tried looking in the shop manual, and they talk about testing but not removal. Sorry. Can't be to hard to figure out though. See you at the next Utah meet.

Yes. The column will then drop. You might just want to loosen them as they are long. That is how you get the gauge cluster out. Been there, done that.

Yeah you're good with those. That computerized helm is pretty cool! Maybe I should invest

Be careful with the top cover. It clips to the lower part and the clips are easily broken.

Once you remove the bolts you can bend the column a bit and get the cover off.
