How hard is it to remove and replace the oil pan?

Jason, if you get first in class or top time of day, are the tech guys going to make you drop your pan (pants) so they can check your bolts? Although we had a guy yesterday who changed to a K&N air filter element, and they put him in ASP. Jason Saini puts $10k worth of mods into his car and it is considered stock by the rules, and you change bolts? What am I missing here? Sounds like the rules were written by lawyers, not racers.

And I wonder about the other items too. We had a new 350 Z come out and run with us. Wonderful car, but has tower braces front and rear from the factory. He is stock, but if we equip the same way, ASP. Hmm.

No way no how is anybody going to protest you for oil jet bolts. Do it and don't worry about it. If you're actually *worried* about it, do it, don't worry about it, and don't tell anybody about it. (but of course it's too late for that now!)

R&R for the oil pan isn't a huge deal. If I can do it, just about anyone can.

Modding the pad or going to a baffled pan shouldn't be necessary for autoX. Anyway, that would actually be illegal in SS (whereas I'd bet money that stock/replacement "upgraded" oil jet bolts are legal).
Personally, I just spent the $$$ for a Mugen pan rather than trying to mod the existing pan. In the scheme of things, it's not that huge an expense vs. the downtime and PITA you'd have modding the existing pan (or getting it modded) yourself.

To tell the truth, if you're not regularly *tracking* (as opposed to autoXing) the car, I wouldn't bother with either mod.

if you have never taken off an oil pan its harder than you think...... and you have to buy special honda sealer called hondabond that is like 50 bucks for like a 2oz tube. Also that sealer sticks really well so you have to get the old sealer off with an exacto knife. It really is a pain in the a**.

I had to change mine a few years ago. I remember Hardtopguy telling me the Hondabond is the same stuff as a certain bond you can get at any Autoparts store. I honestly can't remember which one now, but I got it as he recommended and it worked great. We did it on jackstands. Those tiny bolts get torqued to practically nothing. If I remember right it was like 9 ft/lbs.
