Default how much brake fluid?

I will be changing out the pads, rotors, and fluid this week. I was wondering how much fluid I need to pick up for the job. Also any recommendation on type of fluid would be appreciated. I am wanting to go with a fluid that will withstand autocrossing and the occasional track day. Thanks in advance.

RR,

What time interval would you suggest for fluid changes if one were to go with a DOT 4?

What do you use as a "reverse bleeder device"?

I did a Yahoo search and came back with this....what do you think?

1 liter is more than enough.. Valvolene Synpower or something similar (synthetic DOT 4 or 5.1) is cheap and effective. For hard track use I prefer Motul RBF 600.

You should be fine with one liter for a complete flush and bleed, order two liters if you want to be completely covered.

Any good high quality fluid such as ATE or Motul should be more than sufficient to withstand auto-x and track use. Stay away from the factory fluid as the wet boiling point is much (over 100 degrees) lower than a good performance fluid.

The S2KI store sells a variety of fluids that should fit your needs if you can't find the appropriate fluid locally. Just click on the marketplace link at the top of the page if you want more info.

Thanks guys! I saw some Wilwood hi-temp 570 at the local performance shop. It seems expensive at about 6bucks per 12oz. I might go ahead with the Valvoline.

No longer than every two years, yearly if you track.

you did not look hard enough - it is in the section on custom brakes - look in the options pull down.
