How much heat to affect the engine?
Will an aftermarket header without a heat shield affect the engine? I am planning on taking my S2000 for its first long trip with the header installed. My mods are in the sig.
The drive will be a good 4-5 hours. I just want to make sure I won't take the chance of over heating.
I have never had any problems before, but I have never driven that far in one length of time and it will be at a higher mph and rpm.
Thanks

I ran for around 2 weeks without vented hood with open header ( no heatshield) and mine didnt overheat. Went on a couple 200 pluys mile trips and it was fine. I did notice some power loss, heatbog, but other than that it ran fine. I fixed it by vented my hood, now all the cars in front of me look blurry went I am stopped.

Did you lose power with the DC Header?
With the DC I never had it dyno'd. I made a post that got me flamed pretty good a while ago about my initial feeling after the install.
Honestly the car felt more responsive in the low to mid range. The transition to VTEC is a lot more smooth. I felt like I gained but that is just with the butt dyno. I know they are supposed to be good for 3hp accross the powerband.
For the price I paid for ceramic 120.00 I am happy with it.
One of my buddies is a Honda Tech. He got to drive several S2000's. After we installed the header and took it for a test drive, he told me the car feels more powerful than a stock S. Maybe it was the other mods but I like to think they all complement eachother.
