This doesn't sound good...

Since Honda is using a non-standard bolt (please confirm it's not a standard M8 fine or course) you dont have many options left.

I'm not sure if you can upsize the banjo and what effect it would have on the pressure, if you did retap and use a motorcycle banjo bolt or BMW bolt then you might have a decrease in the pressure and you'd only be replacing the motor down the road.

You could take the stripped block to a welder and get them to fill it in with material and retap it.
it is the 8M x .75... i know it does not sound good...

i will try the retap first.....

and then what? if that does not work?

I would look at using a timesert rather than a helicoil. Timeserts use a solid sleeve that wont unwind like a helicoil and will seal better with fluid behind it.

see http://www.timesert.com/html/mtrcsert.html

They dont have a M8 x .75 kit so you may have to look at rethreading the oil bolt to M7x1.0 and using that thread kit.

Good luck.

You check to see if you have room to go up to a M10, it's must be a tight fit as it is and maybe why Honda used a non-standard bolt

a side question here but I am going to be installing these oil jet bolts on my S here in a month or so... what does a guy have to do in order to avoid cross threading this bolt and having this problem? since it is as Aus said a "black art"

thanks

LOL, ok, I may have been embellishing a tad. Just buy one of those flex drivers with the extension you can bend to a shape and it will hold and transfer the rotation. Then be very careful.

Bottoming tap
