Default Identifying Ap2 Tranny?

Hey guys,

Is there a way to identify a AP2 transmission? Like with a serial number, vin decode or is it a different looking casing? I'm thinking about buying a transmission and was told it was a AP2, i wanted to be sure it is what it is.

Thanks guys.

also the output flange bolts are a bigger size than the AP1. 8mm vs 6mm (actual bolt size and not the hex head size used to take it off).

can the serial number be seen with the car on the ground, IE: through the engine bay or looking from side while laying down on the ground?
