Default Idle Air control system CEL p0505

So last night I finally finished putting the head back onto the car after a rebuild. I started it up and the car start idling at about 1500 rpm I get out of the car inspect the engine bay when all of a sudden the cars idle starts jumping from 1500-2300 and going back up and down to 1.5k-2.5k this continues until the car is warmed up and then it goes back to about 1.1k rpm and idles fine. I also notice that if i press on the throttle in the engine bay the idle goes back to normal. This problem seems to happen on start up and it threw a cel p0505 Idle Air control system. I've searched the forums but could not find anything relating to my problem. If anyone has any knowledge on this problem or have had this problem how did you fix it and how should I go about fixing it?

Thanks

Check your IAC. It's mounted on the intake manifold. Worth taking a peek in there.

Buy and new IAC. Install and clear the DTC.

Problem solved.

Check to make sure you securely plugged the IAC back in. The rubber boot around it can make it look like it is plugged in when it isn't.

It's pretty common for IAC's to rust/stick after cylinder head removal, especially if the car has sat apart for any length of time. It's even more rare that cleaning it out saves the valve.

I did the troubleshooting for Idle air control and it seems to be fixed, the car runs good and does not fluctuate anymore at idle(hopefully) I will start it up tomorrow morning and see if its still idling normally I did clear the cel. However another cel popped up p0325 Knock sensor circuit 1 thats weird because i just replaced the knock sensor I will be doing troubleshooting on that also.

Thanks for the replys
