Hey guys so i have a 2000 ap1. car has 113xxx miles on it. When I'm driving and roll to a stop my idle tends to jump around. I'll be rolling in neutral at 20mph and my revs will stay at 2000 then when im about to stop, drops under 900. my car will run perfectly fine at the stop light then go under 900 revs til where my car stalls.I'm curious wondering if it's a vacumm leak and/or my idle control valve? any ideas?

 

You answered your own question. Check the vacuum hoses maybe one is disconnected - best case scenario. Then clean the IACV just in case. Take it from there

 

Also try to keep the car in gear for as long as possible. Smaller engines and 4cyl engines that dont have much inertia just dont idle well after dropping from higher revs. If you downshift and engine brake try to keep it in gear till about 2000 rpms or less, then clutch in right as you are about to come to a stop. It should hold an idle much better.

 

Do the AP1s normally idle at 2000rpms? I know my AP2 idles at about 800-900 rpms.

 

At a cold start mine will idle at 1500-2000 rpms but when my motor is warm it idles at 900 rev and thanks 4forall
