Default Installing an AUT intake cooling plate on an AP2

I followed the instruction guide on installing the AUT plate in the Technical section and found it to be very helpful. to the guy that wrote it.

However, I suspect that the fitment might either be slightly different on an AP2, or else I'm missing something, because the hood simply will not close with the rubber weather stripping on there. Yes, I removed the metal plate that is under the rubber in the OEM setup, and then reused the rubber for the edge of the AUT plate and it just won't shut. It's definitely the rubber that's holding it back as well, because the hood closes just fine without it, and the fitment of the AUT plate is perfect.

So my question is twofold:
1.) Anyone with any experience on putting this on an AP2 figure out a way to do this?
2.) If not, does anyone know of where to get a thinner weather strip or something like it so I can replace the OEM one?

Right now I just have the stripping off. A little water will get into the crease where the stripping used to be... it's probably not a big deal as there isn't anything that can rust there, but I'm just being anal about it.

Thanks

I put this plate on my AP2, and it fit fine with the weatherstripping. There was a little rubbing around the latch, but the hood shut well. I ended up dremeling a bit of it away around the latch opening to keep the carbon fiber from rubbing on the latch, but I am not sure that was absolutely neccessary.

Are you sure where it is it hitting?

Mine fits as well........

Suggest you look at the instructions again - especially RE: the brackets that hold the radiator in place>

I have the evasive motorsports piece and the weatherstripping fits fine for me. Hood closer is a little harder but still closes fine

Yeah, trust me, I looked at the instructions no less than 4 times, and triple-checked everything.

I think I figured out the problem though... for some reason my hood seems to be sitting slightly lower on the passenger side than on the driver's side. Nothing you can see with the eye... but when you feel around the edge where it meets the front bumper, you can feel that it's slightly off. I don't know if it is bent or just misaligned... but I can feel it. I would imagine that would be enough to cause the closure problem.

Now I need to deal with that.

try adjusting the little rubber bump stops at the front...just spin it out more which should adjust the hood higher. They are sort of around the area of the radiator stays. Wish I could be more discriptive but if you look, you should see what I'm talking about

I know exactly what you're talking about, and I'm going to try that as soon as I get home. Never even though about doing that. Good suggestion... I hope it works!
