Default installing new engine

hey guys, i am installing a new complete f20c into my 2000 ap1, i took the engine out and did so with the head off and transmission still connected. I removed it from the top LOL . Anyhow, i am wondering if anyone can give me some good advice as to how i can pull off the install the most efficient way. The engine is going to be complete, just the tranny will be disconnected(however i do want to put it in as one, but i read its not possible). I have searched and i found a write up but i didnt really like it at all. I can buy a haynes manual but im just poking around first !! thanks guys !

A before pic for good measure

**how its been for the last 2years lulz,**
i took good care of it tho, conditioned all rubber with water based sillicone and all, the car is a 2000 with 112,000 miles, just bought a 2002 f20c1 with 600 original miles, or so i was told and carfax last repoted 10 miles on the odometer. should be here within the week.

OLD motor, scored cylinder walls, cracked retainers. Everything else is in great shape tho.

I just did this a couple weeks ago and I suggest dropping in the motor fom the top. But when you do this hook up all the wiring before the engine is fully down in the bay. The extra slack will make it easier to get to everything.

Once you lower the engine and bolt up the motor mounts then jack up the car as high as you can and install the trans from the bottom. Hope you have some friends to help you .

you will have to drop the subframe to get to those bolts. I worked on Sparrow's car and I remember recalling how this job is absolutely impossible without doing so. On a funny note, instead of using a big extension to get to the 2 top bolts, I used a 17mm wrench from the top of the engine bay to knock them loose, lol...

You don't have to literally drop the subframe. You just lower it a few inches by loosening the bolts.

. If you have an impact gun, it takes like a few seconds per bolts. There are 6 bolts you need to loosen. You also need to disconnect the steering wheel shaft from the rack.
