Hmm, lowering the subframe is standard procedure for getting to other things in many other cars, not just the S. If a shop refuses to do that then they have no clue what they're doing. Look elsewhere.
Is there a way for the frame to not go in dead center? I thought it was designed to dead center itself on the bolts. I've heard an alignment is needed right after, but nothing that will get things out of spec. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

You should me fine.. I lowered mine and put it back up without issue. Afterwards I checked the alignment and it was all good luckily enough..
