If you're interested, we'll be swapping on the gasket on my car next week in Torrance.

Absolutely! I just ordered a gasket and might wait to do installation myself until after your install and experience!

But this is a pretty common technique and after talking with Todd I have purchased the gasket. Will try to schedule a day for install after a mid-March track date.
I'm more or less sold on the gasket, and I think it's a gem that will gain popularity after the dyno or race results come in.

Jose let me know if you decide to get one, we'll do the install together.

The gasket should prevent some of the heat soak into the intake manifold between dyno runs, just make sure the hood is propped open.

The modification might increase proponents of vented hoods as well, keeping the radiator heat from wafting over the intake manifold at speed.

UL,
Is this a modification you are planning on selling. If so I am interested. Also if it all possible (I know money doesn't grow on trees....I wish) will you be doing a dyno sometime before the install. Maybe a day or two beforehand. I just want to get a feeling for what the car is doing before the modifications.

Joe,
I am going to purchase the Hondata gasket. First I want to gather as much raw data from this thing as possible.

Nothing like data to prove if things really work.

I just want to wait on UL's results before installing the gasket. If the manifold and TB releases some power AND if he sells it....I'm in.

Rev et al,

We'll be doing a before and after dyno on the TB. Not on a dynojet since the TB maker is providing the dyno time at a nearby facility, but the dyno is consistent.

Frankly I don't expect the TB to do much at all. We'll run a baseline dyno, then we'll pull my intake manifold off, take my spare manifold which will have been port matched, and install it and the TB. Since we're only opening up the post TB area by a couple mm (and not changing the runners or plenum at all!), I don't forsee any real gains from that. I'm perfectly willing to swap the stock TB back on, since it only takes a couple of minutes, and see if there are any gains just from the gasket. I'm not sure we'll see anything on the dyno, but Todd's temp results tell me I want it on there.

The TB is a billet unit guys. The maker sells them for about $350-$400. We've already tried a prototype and it ran fine, but the huge lip after the TB didn't help response or power. The unit I'm putting on next week is a first run production unit. The sizes are 68-66mm (front to rear is tapered) and 70-68mm. We'll run the 68-66 for sure, maybe a 70-68 too. Once we get the results I'm sure there will be a group buy or something - if it helps a stock car. I'm intrested for modified motors. As for intake manifold mods, they're coming with teh cylinder head work we're doing. Our big valves just came in today and we'll start playing with them this weekend.
