1. Could be your clutch fluid was never flushed properly. This would cause some leaking in the hydraulics and making the clutch not release cleanly and causing the "catching" feel. Clean the master cylinder area with a qtip of any oils and flush out the clutch reservoir a few times.

2. Grease the shift knob - sometimes it runs dry down there and may cause some shifts to feel stickier.

3. Change MTF fluid - try the new honda formula, GM syncromesh, amsoli, or combination of redline fluids. Seems like every car likes one over the other - no consistent answer here.

4. Adjust the rod on the pedal so there's barely any play left from engaging the master cylinder.
I agree with this one. This combination of efforts seems to work the most towards eliminating the notchyness of the shifting.

Also, to echo number 3 I changed mine to Amsoil and while it did feel better than what I had in there before it, it was not the night&day difference some owners have reported. My hunch is that the Amsoil is thicker and rated for higher temps than the Honda MTF II and thus in colder conditions it is more prone to notchyness.

When I was deliberating between Amsoil of HMTFII I did read some owners, who have tried both, make the same comment and say that when cold Amsoil does notch but when it warms up it performs beautifully.

So mine is notchy from time to time with Amsoil in it. Sometimes it even feels like it 'catches' when I shift; almost like a half or quarter grind. And even more seldom it does do the full grind. Workarounds I do are (when cold) double clutch and when shifting into second just be deliberate but slow-er than usual. You do want to apply pressure since the friction (or fluid friction) caused by the shifter bringing the synchro to closer and closer proximity with the dogears are what make the synchro work and prevent full grind.

Just changed my engine oil and probably when I do it next I will change the transmission fluid and rotate my tires.

HTH! at the end of the day, just enjoy your car; it is after all just your car haha btw i am also planning to do an intake-testpipe-hondata upgrade soon hopefully
