I'm about to install a jdm f20c from japan into my car next week, i'm wondering if there are any differences between the jdm and usdm engines and what I should look out for/do during the swap? Thanks in advance.

 

Don't forget to attach the ground at the back of the head otherwise it won't start.

Be careful when removing/installing the top starter bolt...it requires a long extention to get to it and you may accidently hit the knock sensor. Our knock sensor plug gets brittle quick and just a tap with the extension can shatter it.

 

JDM engines different knock sensor and vtec solenoid arrangements, higher compression and a different ECU. Quite a few of UK owners have them. I doubt it will run on you USDM ECU from experience in the UK with engine swaps.

 

I know of a few that have been installed here in the states. I don't know the details of the install, but they are running with the USDM OEM ECU. I know they swapped out the Vtec soleniod, and the JDM Engine harness (RHD v LHD Setup), but what else, I don't know.

 

hmmm. I was informed that the usdm ecu will work fine. So sofar, use the usdm vtec solenoid and the usdm harness... is there anything else?
