JDM S2000 Immobilizer Issues
Ok, I realize this is a touchy subject due to theft issues but I am at my wits end. I am slightly mechanically inclined but wiring-retarded. I live in Thailand and my car is a year 2000 JDM and I am having issues with my immobilizer. Everything functions like it should except for the chipped key not being recognized most of the time which leaves me with a flashing green key signal and the inability to start the car. It sometimes starts on the second or third try, or after 15 minutes of trying.
This is extremely annoying and no electricians I've asked to look at the car can figure it out. The Honda dealerships in Thailand are even worse as they refuse to work on the car as they do not recognize the model in their systems (only 10 sold and the dealership network changed owners, the new owners no longer recognize the cars as their liabilities) as a model they can service and they do not know how to work on it. So I'm left to fend for myself.
I hear there is the solution to replace the ECU with an aftermarket one that does not have an immobilizer unit and it will disable the immobilizer function but considering my car is stock and I don't trust tuners here, I do not want to go that route. I have also heard there is a way to modify the existing stock ECU to disable the immobilizer but have not seen any descriptions or diagrams of how to do this. Can someone please provide me with these details or any other methods to overcome my issue? PM would be fine if the information should not be public. If the information is very sensitive I can also promise not to share it with anyone else. I just need to not get stuck in 105 degree heat for 15 minutes trying to start the damn thing.
Thank you,
Nathan
