That's way louder than a timing chain tensioner usually is.

Start unplugging coil packs 1 at a time. If the noise is reduced, you've gout either a damaged rod bearing, or a scuffed bore on whatever cylinder the noise changes on.

Sounds like a scuffed bore to me.

Have you checked the oil level?

does not sound good. FI and running lean and highway pulls do not mix well. Im guessing its in the block , any un usual smoking maybe cracked piston. maybe rod bearing . hope im wrong . good luck deff get a scope on that block to listen, a long handel screwdriver will work put the head on the spot you want to hear and the handel on your ear it works great

nope, the noise didnt go away when i took out individual plugs... it only gave me a check engine light... how do i reset the ecu without having to undo the battery or disconnect the wiring harness?

the engine oil is in the middle between H and L...

When i took the plugs out the engine started to run bad and the noise got a bit slower... but never went away...

When i put a wrench to my ear i heard it most prominently on the intake manifold...

The noise shouldn't go away when unplugging the coils only lessen.

no odd smoke, i am running it around 13-12 with the FPR turned up a bit... THe car has lost no power

Also, I took this video last night, and tonight the knocking noise isnt as loud
If you figure out what it is please let me know or keep me posted through PM's. I'm having the same problem. I can't listen to the video right now because I'm at work and government computers are really picky about what sites they will let you visit but I'll listen as soon as I get home. Our symptoms sound exactly the same. I to tried unplugging 1 coil pack at a time. Noise did not go away or get quieter just a lil slower cuz engine was running bad. I also did the screwdriver trick and I hear the sound the most in the intake manifold near cylender 1. Whatever is wrong I think I have the same problem so when you have it diagnosed please let me know. Thks

Got a stethascope? They have them at sears for about 20 bucks.. or you can use a looong screw driver and put your ear to the handle while touching various parts of the engine with the tip. Its a good way to locate noises etc.
