I have looked around and read a couple of threads to troubleshoot this problem but i still cant find the exact issue I am having. I am getting like a metal knocking sound under my center council all the time and its annoying. This is happening all the time while in neutral, driving, parked you name it as long as the car is running I can hear it. I know some people my say its the oil cap stuck in there but I looked and I cant see anything stuck for the life of me. Can anyone help please.

 

Oil cap stuck in where? does the sound coincide with engine speed?

 

People say it gets stuck between the firewall and the trans. And i believe its a constant clunking but you just cant hear it as much because the car gets louder.

 

It's a peckerwood..... I mean a wood pecker...... It's likely an old oil cap....

 

Catalytic rattle?? Jack it up and go tap on it

 

Anyone know if it is the cap is there a way to remove it without dropping the trans?

 

So how does the oil cap get down there?? . I have heard of catalytic converters making a metallic tinging sound.
