Knocking when I stop
My 00 is making a knocking noise in the front right wheel when I stop. It only makes the noise once, and subsiquent stops do not make a noise, until i stop in reverse, then it will make it once in reverse. I wouldnt be posting a thread about it, but this is not the first S2000 i have heard do this. I test drove one once that did the same thing. I havent been able to get under the car to check it out yet so it may be something obvious but for now Im puzzled as to what it could even be.
so it goes like this:
Stop - forward - stop/clunk!
Stop - forward - stop/nothing
Stop - reverse - stop/clunk!
Stop - reverse - stop/nothing
so it goes like this:
Stop - forward - stop/clunk!
Stop - forward - stop/nothing
Stop - reverse - stop/clunk!
Stop - reverse - stop/nothing
If you're certain that the noise is from the front of the car, it sounds like you need to have a thorough inspection of the front wheel(s). Check that all nuts and bolts are tight, especially those associated with the caliper frame mount and caliper attachment to the frame, and that you have undamaged brake pads. Also, check to see if the brake pad spacers and springs are in place and undamaged.
