I guess I'll try it.. I've been calling some different shops and I got quoted a little over $2000 in LABOR alone + parts at one place....

Doesn't seem like I'll be getting my motor rebuilt anytime soon.

I knew S2K stuff was more expensive than average but damnnnnn...

Try the restore. I tried it on my ITA SE-R SR20 engine and it did help bring up the compression. I did three races with the restore in the engine and still won. Had I continued its use, it might have helped me keep the engine on the car. But I decided to do an engine swap. At $400, SR20 engines are really cheap.

Your getting high quotes because of the nature of the problem. No shop wants to have your motor apart and find out its not as you stated. They come back for more money and you get angry. Now it goes one of two ways, they fix it and lose money, or you demand they put it back together and go somewhere else.

No shop benefits from low ball quotes. Any shop owner will tell you that its easier to come under quote then to ask for more money.

At $2K I'd buy a used motor and drop it in.
