Leaking Axle boot
Just looking for feedback on how fast a smallish leak on the inside boot will kill the axle. Axles are on lifetime warranty but guess what...they dont have them in stock right now so for now Im stuck with this and cant find a place that will sell me just a boot to replace. I have a somewhat long trip coming up, maybe around 2000 miles. So just wondering if it will crap out on me.
On second thought: it will most likely not fail in a way that you can not drive anymore.
The CV will be ruined but as long as the 3 spider rollers sorta stay in place it will transmit power.
IOW: the lack of grease will ruin the CV but will do almost no harm to the axle itself.
But I guess with "axle" you mean the part from diff flange to hub.
Btw... my OEM CV boots are 12 years / 230k km old and look like new when cleaned.
What made yours fail in the first place?
