I'd be willing to bet that they make no difference in lap time. Since they are open-ended, they are more likely to seize (see above.) Net benefit, none IMHO

I agree (even though I have a set). They make absolutely no difference in lap times. They do have benefits though, aesthetic (and sometimes security) benefits
