Limp home mode
18 months ago, I installed an S2000 engine in an 1960 MGA. I am using the standard ECU, but which has been modified to read just the engine components. The only engine component not used is the air pump, and because of this there is continual CEL...we inserted a cut out switch to avoid a continual light on the dash. The car has run very well for this time, but on a car club run today, the limp home mode cut in four times...each time I stopped and switched off for a minute, then restarted with no further problems for about 20 minutes, then it happens again. I have also noticed some engine pinking, so do you think the knock sensor would be causing the shut down?
If anyone knows of a specialist here on the Gold Coast, Australia, I would love to know.
BTW, I am an old car SU carb person, so know little about modern engines.

I'm in the process of getting hold of an OBDII reader..yes, that part of the harness is still OK.
BTW, would low oil cause the "limp home mode" to activate?....I checked belatedly, and found that the oil level was on the LOW part of the stick. ...and then I remember that the "limp home mode" came in shortly after turning a corner (4 times). Maybe having low oil and a certain amount of surge would create the problem?
