Little rattle
Hey guys and girls. I have a little rattle I thought it was coming from the block some time you have a job to hear it. So I went to my little local car shop and I know the guy well well he put a long bit off metal to his ear on some engine parts when my car was running and you can hear a rattle when he put it on the alternator tensioner. Would you trust that way?? I did hear it for myself. Thanks for any input.

Thats a redneck stethescope but yeah, it works. A real stethescope would be better, but that is prolly a valid diagnosis.
I'd just slip the belt off and spin that tensioner by hand to see if it feels rough or makes noise to confirm, before swapping the part.
Wait, is it the tensioner or the alternator itself that made the noise? The serpintine belt runs all the accesories so its not just an 'alternator' tensioner, its typically just called a belt tensioner.
