Default Location of defroster timer?

Anyone know the location of the rear defroster timer? Is it in the switch or the relay? I'd rather buy that particular piece and put together the rest of the wiring to save some cash... $175 for the harness form HardTopGuy seems a bit excessive to me for a switch, timer, relay, and wiring (not his fault, just expensive Honda parts).

00-01 cars the timer is in the switch

02-04 cars the Gauge cluster controls the defogger relay.

I've never seen any evidence of a timer with my '01 (we ARE talking about hardtop defrosters, right?). The button remains down, seemingly mechanically. If it's supposed to pop back up automatically, I must not have run into the limit.

Thanks, Slow... looks like I'll have to find a separate timer. That switch is too big to do what i want with it.

jg, It's probably a pretty long time, like 15 minutes. If it ran without a timer, you run the risk of shattering the window if left on in high heat, and it certainly reduces the amount of available power while it's on.
