Looking for advice - Blown axles, diff bracket, driveshaft, etc.

I already have most of the items on the way, figured that it would be easier to just buy a used diff then do the rebuild so ordered that as well. Going to also need some new diff bushings as well.

From what I can hear, the noise you are describing is the grinding/vibrating noise on decel? Mines was more of a whirring based on speed, not on accel or decel. It was especially loud in third/fourth gear, after the exhaust noise (buddy club spec II) would be way louder.

Additionally noticed some dents on gas tank/shielding but no gas leaking (from what I can tell). +1, I did drain the diff fluid but surprisingly no giant metal chunks? It was pretty viscous however. Color was darker but not silver as expected.
I missed this before but yes, the noice on decel. It is kind of hard to hear with the car noise, wind noise and cars around me. But it is that growling/hum noise you hear as I lift into the corners there. It was even more masked with my helmet on while driving and thought at first I was hearing something from that car I was catching up to.

I believe its mostly a highway thing. Reaching a point where the hollow axle finds a resonance that overlaps natural highway frequencies.
Gotcha, appreciate the advice. I've heard of this but never ran into it my self. My problem previously was vibrations in the rear on cornering, specifically hard left corners at speed/accel. I will be boosted in the future so I expect to break a few axles in the process. This was the most cost effective solution, at least for now.

Car is in the air during all of this, have not driven it on the ground. Put it in gear in the air and can hear the clunking when the wheels are turning, both outside and in the cabin.

I know all diffs have some play/backlash as you mentioned, but this one seems excessive. I'm no mechanic so I don't think I can or should DIY setting backlash on the diff. Worth noting that my previous diff did not do this (when it was working).

yeah re watching it may be excessive. Always hard to tell on a video. But if you hearing the clunk as it rotates something is certainly not happy in there. You could pull the axles and test it again but I suspect it wont change and is coming from the diff. Unless someone has torn into it already and messed with it, then I suspect wear or damage if it is indeed clunking inside the diff. Could be the crush sleeve has started going or that the carrier bearings are bad but of course hard to say without seeing inside of it. There is the slight chance it is the prop shaft. but you could pull the prop shaft and spin the diff by hand to see if you can still hear it that way. I would do what I could to isolate it to the diff. Which sucks since you just got this used diff!

There was a guy on one of the fb chat groups that had a similar sound coming from his and worked forever to isolate it. Last I heard I think he sent the diff off for a rebuild but I am not positive. But he had replaced axles thinking the clunk was there, then posted a very similar video to yours saying he thought it was inside the diff. I think he and I are friends on FB so I can check and see what he ended up finding out. It was before FB stopped allowing chats for FB groups so I lost all the history from the chat itself.

Thanks for the reply, looking back at it, very hard to tell on video haha. However in person, you can very clearly hear it coming from the diff. For now I've chatted with the seller on Ebay and we've proceeded to the return stage. Will likely take another week or so for a new (used) diff to come in. Going to need to order more diff fluid unfortunately, just the cost of playing the game.

Would love to see if sending the diff off for rebuild solved his issue. I've sent some emails to Puddymod about rebuilding my busted one, though I'm not sure its possible. I'm looking at his Stage 2 diff which I will almost definitely will be running when I am boosted. That should hopefully solve any future diff issues.
