Default Loose hose after dealership service. What is it?

My local dealership replaced the gasket under the valve cover last week because of a leak. When I was checking my oil today I noticed a hose that is not connected. I know nothing about engines. Could someone please tell me what this piece is that's not connected and what type of damage (if any) could be caused by driving the car for a week without it connected? It's the area in yellow.

That's your car's PCV valve (Positive Crankcase Ventilation). Just plug it back into the hole that's near there. The worst that happened was you pushed oil vapour into the engine bay and got something a bit dirty. No big deal. Under normal driving, not much oil comes out of there anyway.

Thanks. That's a relief.
