Thumbs up Loose Throw out bearing

Ok, so I'm in the middle of installing my new Competition Clutch 2100 series clutch disk and ultralight flywheel from InlinePro and I'm running into a problem.

After making sure the alignment pins for the pressure plate and flywheel were in correctly and seated as far as I could get them, I installed the 12 pressure plate mounting bolts and began to torque them in a star pattern as the manual stated. After getting them all torqued down, though, I reached up and jiggled my throw out bearing just to see if everything seated correctly. Well, there is about 1/16" play front to back with the bearing between the clutch disk and the pressure plate spring(s), resulting in about 1/4-3/8" of side-to-side play. I took a rubber mallet and lightly tapped on the pressure plate and re-torqued the bolts to make sure that it just wasn't binding on anything, but the plate hasn't moved and the bearing is just as loose.

Anyone have an idea on what's happening?

Jack

It is suppose to be loose, it does not ride tight on the diaphragm of the pressure plate, it rides on the nose cone of the transmission and that is what aligns it center to the pressure plate

And your clutch fork will hold it from moving front to back

Haha, alright. Just kind of freaked me out a little bit. I didn't want to put shakey parts back on the car and have it be my fault when it breaks.

Thanks for the help, guys!
