Default Loud pop when reversing?

Hey fellas, today I got in my car to leave for work, and I started it up and tried put it into reverse. I was letting the clutch out and it didnt move, just kinda revved up a lil bit, so I quickly put it in neutral and then back into reverse, and right as it started to move back i heard i loud popping/banging noise, it sounded like I came from behind me. My s2 is a 2008 with only 2,000 miles on it. I dont have the slightest idea what it could be. Maybe the tranny was cold or something? The car is driving fine, and i reversed again and it did not make the noise, so im just checking to make sure nothing may be wrong, just a nervous guy haha. Thanks!

did it rain since the last time you drove the car? when did you last wash the car? sounds like your rear calipers got a bit of rust on the pads and stuck to the rotors. mine does it every now and again after i wash the car and it aways scares the piss outa me.

glad that ended up being what it was. really the only other cause for it would be if the axle nuts were loose. kinda unlikely on an 08 with 2000 miles.

Happens to me as well. First start in the morning after a rain, I usually try to put the tranny in first and engage the clutch to move forward an inch or two to release the brakes, then back up and go. It seems to help.........
