Thumbs up Maintenance Required Light

Hi fellow S2K owners.... I have a question regarding my Maintenance Required Light. I noticed lately whenever I start my engine, the Maintenace Required light would blink about 5 seconds and then disappear. I never noticed that before.... Is this normal?

I do my own oil change and the last oil change I did, I follow the direction posted over here on the boards on how to reset the Maintenance counter.

Can someone tell me if this is normal or not?

Thanks,
Rod

The car has sensed that you have not read your owner's manual (or even the FAQs in the Under The Hood section), and has turned on the light to indicate it. After a while if you still haven't read the owner's manual the light will come on and stay on as punishment.

WOW those FAQ's are pretty cool. I still wonder why we put those things under the title of "FAQ". I always thought that making a Frequently Asked Question thread would be a good idea.

Just a thought.

If the light was not on or blinking at the time you reset it, it may not reset to zero. A reset on that light "might" only work if it has gone off (meaning "activated").

I think maybe the light is triggered by the absolute odo number rather than the distance since it was last reset. Which is another way of saying it doesn't do any good to reset it before it starts flashing. But I'm not certain.

Anyway, it's normal, so just reset it now.
