Default Maintenance Required Light Issue

So I have done the "reset" every oil change and after every Mod as I read the procedure

Key in OFF position,
Pull 7.5A Backup fuse for a few minutes
Put fuse back in
Turn car on
Let idle and reset for a few fan cycles (5-10min) with no accessories on
Just did it last week and the light flashes whenever I get in my car? (First time I've seen this light as well, bought 02 ap1 with 34k miles last september, Now its at 40k miles)

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance for the help

Put key in in the off position. Hold trip reset button I believe and continue holding while you turn the key to the on possition. Keep holding for probably 30 seconds or so. It should reset it.
No need to pull any fuse or anything.

The maintenance required light is set up to read mileage. It comes on every 7500 miles. It flashes on startup of the car 500 miles before that. It is nothing more than a reminder that counts miles (well, that is true up until MY06 anyway).
