"map whack" didnt work
hey guys just bought a 2000 s2k with 101k miles. It feels held back when i get into it and the rpms also pulse at times.the map sensor looks very new and was zip tied and bolts have deff been put on and off before. i tried the map whack and even cleaned it with electronics cleaner and it didnt work. the car has also been back firing more than id think is normal. ive looked and looked on here as of what it could be and im thinking either new map or clutch. ive never had a clutch go on me so im not to sure as to what its like so any help to point me in the right direction would be awesome. id rather not have to take it to a stealership if i can repair it. thanks for any help/input!
Your clutch wouldn't make the engine back fire. If your clutch was slipping the car would rev and you basically wouldn't be going anywhere. It would feel a lot like pressing the clutch pedal and revving the engine while rolling. I'd try the basics first to help diagnose your problem. Spark plugs, valve adjustment, maybe try a different gas station? Could have gotten a hold of some crappy gas.

Backfiring?
I am thinking plugs. Also if the map sensor already had a ziptie on it. Chances are it was already replaced under the TSB. Just because it didn't fix your problem doesn't necessarily mean it didn't work. It just means you have issues somewhere else.
I would check the plugs. If they are OEM it is time to change them.

my car has never backfired, my car is a 2004 ....There could be a host of things causing this, you might want to take it someplace, have it put on a scope and find out what the cpu says, then trouble shoot obvious: valve adjustments, plugs, coil packs, fuel system, timing, etc...these engine run very well for many miles if taken care of properly.

Taking it to a mechanic tomorrow, but yeah valve clearances would be next on the list but I did get a cel but had it checked and came back with nothing? It seems like a fuel or sensor problem, hopefully I will find out tomorrow what's going on
