Motor Mount Issue
Is this a common problem on the s2k? I bought mine used, and I never really bothered to look under the hood cause I'm not that big of a mech junkie. Took it to my friend's shop for the 60k mile check up, and he said everything was fine, then he looked at the left motor mount and told me it was cracked. It's that round rubber thing that's bolted to the bar that hold the motor in place i think.
I'm wondering if it's from wear and tear or if I could possibly have a situation where the previous owner attempted to screw around with the engine, in which case I'd be slightly concerned. The bolt that holds down the motor mount has a yellow line painted down the side, and I was told that was a factory marking to show tampering of certain parts of the car. The bolt holding down the motor mount isn't aligned, so I'm assuming it was unbolted at some point.
However, my friend (whose been a mechanic for a damn long time) told me that motor mount cracking could be a result of wear and tear as well, since the ap1 does redline at 9k, and driving the car hard in low gears could cause enough movement in the engine bay to crack the mount in the later stages of the s2k life. I've had this car for only 1 month, and this worries me a bit. The motor mount only costs like 300 bucks, but I'd be loathe to find out that the previous owner ****ed with the engine and didn't bother to tell me about it. Carfax was clean btw.
Thanks for the help.

The UK guys have reported problems with motor mounts. Cars that are not garaged in coastal areas seem more prone to the failure. Even though my car is primarily garaged, I'm watching mine closely since I'm in Florida.
Regardless...they do wear over time, and being an '00, that rubber has seen a lot of years.
