Also could be vapor lock from the gasoline heating up. Mine used to do that after a highway cruise and then stop at a red light.
Installed AUT cooling plate. fixed it for the most part...

Close, your gas will detonate earlier then TDC (top dead center) which is bad and harm the engine.
Sooner then excepted your engine will blow up and your cheap ass will need to spend a grand on a used motor.
I'd rather spend a few hundred extra a year to get the maximum HP/fuel economy/life from my motor.

When I swapped the engine in my ap2, the knock sensor came broken, and I run the car without it for a while.
Now, the ECU noticed it missing and put a CEL code for it. Since computer was trying to protect the engine, it simply pulled all the timing as a fail safe.
The car was sooooo slow and lacked that midrange growling sound. So just for shits and giggles I started adding 87 since I figured the ECU would not be adding timing anyway, and so save some $$$$$$. This made no difference for 1 month until I got the knock sensor installed.
If you were to add 87 to the s, the knock sensor would pick up the knock and command the ECU to pull the timing until the situation was corrected.. so in effect it would feel like my car without the knock sensor.
And for the record, my car never blew up or anything.
But iDomN8U's scenario will come true if u try that on a car without knock control....
