The rev limiter is an ECU-based way of preventing the engine from going too fast by limiting power output. Over-revving from mis-shifting has nothing to do with the rev limiter.

right i meant an over-rev, yea im really worried so i'll take it to a shop to get it inspected.

 

If you over revved a couple times you need to get the retainers checked out.

What speed and gear did you over rev to?

 

pull the head and check the tops of the pistons, bent valves, missing spark plug tips, scored cylinder walls. How bad of a misshift did you do? The rev limiter will not protect you from a mechanical induced over rev.

 

perhaps you should change your sig to "10k all the way"?

 

im not 100% sure but it was around 65-75 mph and i think i went into 2nd.
