Default my diff. problem

Here is my problem my diff has been making a sound that sounds like a constant high pitched whine when i go from about 20 miles an hour up to 70 i haven't taken it above that. Now some times when i put it in reverse it sounds like a clunk noise. I understand that the 00-03 do have diff problems and i've put it on a dyno and can determine that the noise is coming from the pumpkin area. I have searched the site trying to find the answer to the problem and the common problems are the differential, ring gear, bearings etc. I guess the ? I have is that on so many posts that seem to describe the same problem that I am having, but no 1 goes into any detail by saying what they have done to fix it.
I know there is the Spoon Rear Gearbox, but I cant seem to get a hold of one of those and i know the comptech diff reinforcement housing, the axel spacers..

If any 1 can help me solve my problem and get any kind of advise on what my options to fix this problem are would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

That might be the sound of a "soon to blow" diff.

Get it inspected and while open throw in some gears and reinforced comptech housing.

Better save the damage now before it its too late.

whines are typical worn bearing noises, check to see if its the tailshaft area, it typically produces a high pitched whine wheel speed variable aswell, if not that ...

no. the 00-03 diffs dont have "problems". the most common failures are caused by improper driving techniques and abuse.

no one here can tell you what's specifically wrong with your diff. the whine can be caused by soon-to-fail ring and pinion gears that are on their way out, or they can be caused by the pinion bearings. however, generally on a pinion bearing failure, you might see diff oil leak out the front side of the diff by the prop shaft.

you need to have the diff taken out of the car and opened up, to see what the problem is. it's probably a time bomb waitin to go off at this point.

Something else to be aware of, if you've had your car serviced recently at a Honda dealership, it is entirely possible they changed your diff fluid and put in the wrong type. Maybe try getting a good diff fluid(GL5) and change it and see if it helps. The honda dealerships don't keep it stocked and will use the CRV diff fluid instead which WILL damage and destroy your diff if its driven on like that for too long.

When changing the fluid, check for metal shavings.

can you point me in a direction on the gears and does it come w/ most of the things needed to be replaced, beside that do the comptech reinforcement piece.

where do you suggest taking the the pumpkin to, to be looked at?
