5quirts and car is 2001 with just under 98,000miles I was using 10w-30 don't remember brand names it was high mileage oil. Most I ever go to is like 5000-5500RPMS the car was like bone dry of oil not even 1/8" on dip stick on both sides. I don't have a cracked block I don't blow any smoke. No head gasket leak or oil pan/valve cover gasket. I've owned the car for 2yrs now. Bought it of a salvage title. Carfax's says car hit inner meden. So idk.... What all would I have to change if I put a 2008 motor in my ap1 over a different ecu and engine wire harness.

If you change the oil and filter, and did a complete drain, the car takes 5.85 quarts exactly to fill it to the top diamond.

Just went out and checked my oil, I don't want to be in this boat.

Sorry to hear the bad news... there is a running F20c for sale in the classifieds.

Best of luck

Did you actually check the oil level after you changed it?

^^^ yes I checked it was 1 x under full so I thought it would be fine and 700miles later she's almost bone dry. Don't try in be an asshole about it I'm alrighty pissed off that it happened. I'm wondering where all the oil went. I feel like some 1 opened my fill car and sucked it all out.

I may not be a mechanic but there is NO WAY an AP1 should burn that much oil in 700 miles, unless the car was being tracked every other day or had a leak of some sort. I VTEC my AP1 daily and I do have to add but maybe 1/4 a quart every 2 to 3 weeks. I check my oil once every week or so but this makes me so nervous im checking much more often now. Im not sure why a previous poster mentioned synthetic oil as if it may be an issue, I use 5w30 full syn and it burns less than when I was running conventional.

Its just insane all that oil burnt up that fast...and with no leaks visible it just makes no sense.. but I could be wrong..

So sorry this happened to you ...

If it was under the first x mark, then it filled up the filter. You didn't put enough oil in it. You were like .8 - 1.2 quarts low. From first x to the last x is 1 quart, not counting the filter. Did you mess around with your PCV? that would explain some severe oil burning. Your car drank the oil(burned it).

I've noticed a pattern from reading the last few threads like this. Of course everyone jumps up and says "you didn't check your oil and you ran it out of oil and you blew it up." But it seems like usually the owner has reason to believe the oil level was good in the recent past. Of course one can never know for SURE, but that seems to be the pattern, which makes me think it may be true. So I wonder if there is some kind of failure in these motors that causes them to suddenly start burning/losing oil at a very fast rate, which then of course leads to bearing damage. Maybe it's not always the owner's fault. Sometime **** just happens.

It's also pretty depressing that the light doesn't come on until it's too late. Why even have a light?

AWWHITE s2k, sorry for your loss. Good luck in getting it fixed!

I hope you're not serious. Who checks their oil every two days? If your car burns that much oil in 2 days, you already need a new motor!!
