Default New Clutch

Hi,

I can tell that my original clutch is going out on me, and I need a replacement. Every shop I've tried wants $1300.! Any suggestions? This is not an item you replace often, so maybe I want something
better than stock?

Thanks for any help!

E.

Thanks. Why do you recommend OEM?

Any place to get it cheaper?

Regards,

E.

Everything else fails. When I say OEM I mean OEM Honda not OEM online Exeedy crap, it has to be OEM in the Honda wrapper.

Get oem everything with an ACT HD pressure plate. A quick search will tell you that it is by far the favorite setup for most people with n/a s2k's

just outta curiosity... what makes the ACT HD pressure plate better than the OEM one? For a normally aspirated car?

Thanks!

Better clamping force, without much difference in pedal effort. There is nothing wrong with the oem pp. Its very good quality, and will last. If your old pp is original Honda, in good shape, and you don't plan on adding any power, and looking to save money, then keep your stock pp.

If its an ap2, the best update you can do is lighter flywheel. Either used ap1 flywheel, or any aftermarket chromoly flywheel. Stock ap1 is 14lb. Ap2 is a whopping 22lb! Aftermarket around 11lb will still have stock drivability, but most of the lightweight advantages. Aftermarket 8 lb is as light as you want to go. Some say it drives fine. If its a dd, I would lean towards the 11lb.

You have to disable the clutch interlock switch if you go for a stronger pressure plate. It's still a good idea regardless.

Just buy a stock, Honda clutch from somewhere like Bernardiparts.com. Forget the ACT PP unless you'd like a more agressive clutch, and are going to do a clutch interlock delete to start the car with...and be mindful of how much time you spend with the pedal pushed.

The Honda Genuine pressure plate, disk, release bearing, release bearing guide (don't forget that), and high temperature urea grease are a must.

This should all come out to like $600.

An AP1 flywheel is a nice upgrade for an AP2.

Install ranges from $350 - 800.
